Shan Koe Mee Card Rankings and Special Cards

Understanding the card values in the game is the key to winning. A standard deck (52 cards) is used, and values are counted as follows.

Shan Cards

J (Jack), Q (Queen), and K (King) each have a value of 0. When all three appear together, it is called Shan — a winning combination that can pay double.

Number Cards

Cards from A to 10 have values of 1 to 10 (10 = 0). Only the last digit of the total of three cards is counted.

Nine Card

When the last digit of the total is 9, it is called a Nine Card. This is the highest number card — but it is not Shan.

Three of a Kind

When all three cards have the same value, it is called Three of a Kind. This hand can beat even a Shan card.
